Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research (GHS-IMR), in association with The Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) was back with its third National HR Summit ‘HumanOurce- 2016’ on September 10th, 2016 (Saturday). The aim of the summit since its inception in 2014 was to have a regular dialogue among professionals/academicians and business leaders for integrated and inclusive development of Human capital at national and regional level.
The focus of this third confluence was to provide a platform for sharing of best practices and evolve ideas on the summit theme- ‘Continuous and Collaborative Learning-The New HR Mantra’. A series of panel discussions, special lectures, presentations and open house discussions with experts and participants facilitated in achieving this objective.
The inaugural session began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. In his welcome speech, Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi, Director GHS-IMR, said that today organizations have to see, how they can get their employees engaged with human touch. Employees of different generations need to be tackled in unique ways and specially the employees of millennium generation.
Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr. Bimal Roy, Sr. Executive Vice President, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd., in his keynote delicately explained the importance of Continuous and collaborative learning (CCL), as well as ways in which organization can use it by quoting examples like ‘Let’s connect’, ‘Creativity and innovation in PMS’, ‘Four-house’, ‘CRS for engagement’, Memorable Campaign, Employee-ship.
The interesting and lively panel discussion on summit theme by Mr. M.M. Khan, Director Prolead, Mr. Pramod Chaturvedi, Sr. Deputy GM, HR Clark Group of Hotels, Ms. Suprabha Dubey, Director Operations, R.K. Devi Memorial Hospital, Mrs. Charu Chaturvedi, HR Consultant, Lohia Corp., Mr. Anurag Saxena, GM Vijay Continental, & Ms. Manvi Kapoor, Manager RSPL Ltd. kept the audience engaged. The practical examples from industry by experts brought richness and quality in deliberations.
The Plenary Speaker, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Associate Vice President-HR at RSPL helped to quickly sail through the buzz word in HR these days i.e. Employee Engagement. His mention, “Transforming employee potential into employee performance is employee engagement” was really remarkable because most of the organisations are dealing with this problem only.
The paper presentation session scheduled post lunch, was the unique highlight of this summit brought and it brought people from industry and academia to put their perceptive on recent HR trends and on using CCL for best HR practices. Session chair for paper presentation Mr. M.M. Khan and Mrs. Charu Chaturvedi contributed in summarizing & reflecting on the research inputs & insights provided by the paper presenters.
The attraction of the day was the skit performed by Prabhanshu, Suraj, Mohd. Asim, Izhar, Sanya, Himani, Vanshika, Akshay, Palak and Kanica, the students of GHS-IMR which gathered great applauds from the audience. Skit was used as a role play technique to project and promote the summit theme of CCL in day to day functioning of organizations.
The second plenary session by Mr. Anurag Saxena GM at Vijay Inter-Continental went straight to the hearts of audience. His ideas like “One has to do blue sky thinking in order to be successful & different from others” motivated the budding professionals.
Dr. Monika Srivastava, Summit Chair, HumanOurce-2016 summarised the day long proceedings under valedictory session. She informed that 50 industry personnel, 60 academicians, and over 150 future managers assembled at the institute to make the event successful. She concluded the day with a vote of thanks to all with a special mention to the program anchors Prabhanshu and Sanya and overall student coordinators- Shubhi, Deepak & Damini for putting their relentless efforts. The stage was then set for the next HR Summit ‘HumanOurce-2017’ with announcement of its date as September 9th 2017 and theme to be ‘Reinventing HRM’.
