GHS- IMR witnessed its 22nd Convocation Ceremony on Saturday 28th April, 2018. Mr. Devendra Jaiswal, led the Academic Procession in the ceremony hall. The academic procession comprised of the Chief Guest, Dr. William Painter (Dean, Westford Education Group, United Kingdom), Mr. Samras Mayimi (Executive Director- Head of Strategy, Westford Education Group, United Arab Emirates), Mr. Yadupati Singhania (Chairman GHS-IMR & MD J K Cement), Mr. Abhishek Singhania (Member Governing Council), Mr. Anil Agarwal (Member Governing Council), Director Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi, GHS-IMR, and faculty members.
The program commenced with Saraswati Vandana and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The Chairman declared the Convocation open. In his speech, he praised the efforts made by the institute in the field of academics. His message to the outgoing batch was –“Now you are a part of JK family known for its values, culture and business ethics. He suggested to dream big, inculcate learning attitude and habit of giving best to the society”
Dr. William, in his unique style, mentioned that the outgoing 22nd batch represents and radiates the Hope, hope capable of changing not only India but the whole world. He said that in the current international market a fresh blood like the one sitting in the hall may provide a solution connecting farmers in the US, with market in China, giving a new Hope to all. According to him a person becomes international if he could translate multiple cultures and join them seamlessly.
Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi, while reading the annual report of the institute, mentioned that the meritorious list this year also was dominated by female students, and 30 (65%) students out of the total strength secured First Division while 16 (35%) students secured the Second Division. The placement process has been very good for the year. Berger Paints, Retail Quotient Research Private Limited (Redquanta), Paarth Infrabuild, ICICI Securities, HDFC Asset Management, Infoedge India (Naukri.com), Kanpur Plastipack, Entertainment Network India Ltd., RSWL Ltd. (Bhilwara), J S Auto, etc. were among the prominent companies which recruited the students through campus placement.
On the achievements made in the concluding academic year, Dr. Premi informed that the Institute was ranked 45th best B- School by Business Today, rated at AA+ category by Career 360 degree, featured as the 20th promising B-School of India by CSR. Apart from these three copyrights, one book published by Excel Group with ISBN Number were added to college’s intellectual capital.
The Director told that the institute has successfully organized around 20 events, of which, the Humanource-2017, Entrepreneurship Summit-2017, Confluence Alumni Meet-2017, Brandcraft-2017 were notable. For the coming year Humanource-2018, Entrepreneurship Summit-2018, Confluence Alumni Meet-2018 and Brandcraft-2018 will be the major endeavour. Speaking upon the new initiatives taken up by Institute a special mention was made of Incubation facility for alumni giving support and guidance for running their start-up. He informed, one start-up is already utilizing the facility. He also informed of opening up of Alumni chapter in Dubai and initiation of HumanOurce young leader award for HR professionals
Dr. Shekhar Trivedi, presented the 22nd batch of full time students for conferment of diploma. All students were then called on the dais to receive their Diploma Certificate by the Chief Guest. The hall broke into huge applause as Asha Thomas was awarded the Chairman’s Gold Medal, Anshul Agarwal was awarded Chairman’s Silver Medal, Harshita Mishra, Nishtha Kanodia and Shubhangi Agarwal were awarded Director’s Medal for securing third, fourth and fifth position respectively.
The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Bhagwan Jagwani, GHS-IMR followed by National Anthem. All the members of the governing council, faculty members, staff, students and their parents were present to witness the occasion.
During the dinner, post convocation ceremony, one of the students of senior batch Harshita Mishra quoted “It feels great that we have learned a lot in these two years which has enhanced our vision towards new possibilities”. Her batch mate Anshul Agarwal commented “We have learned that opportunities are never ending and we need to explore these opportunities so that we can grow as a human being, and the best part is that we all know that the institute will be there to fall back upon, if needed.”
