ABOUT PGDM PROGRAMME

PGDM programme is in its 26th glorious year. The first batch of the programme passed out in the year 1997. The programme has not only been benchmarked with the best in the country but with discipline at its core has helped students to rise to the top in their careers. The curriculum of the PGDM programme has the best and the latest topics like Robotics Process Automation and Liberal Arts.

The programme further has been made vibrant by collaborating with IBM Skill build which provides the most latest topics in management like Machine Learning, Self Branding, Artificial Intelligence, and many other certifications which are part of the PGDM programme. 

GHS-IMR has successfully contributed to the multidimensional development of future professionals with a clear focus on positive thinking and self-confidence to cope with the transformation, challenge, and qualms of corporate life.

The PGDM program is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD (Govt. of India).

PROGRAM DURATION

The PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) in the past was called as PGDBM, where B meant Business. Seeing the wider spectrum in which the concepts of management can be applied, the regulating body AICTE on the country’s educators’ advice changed the programme name from PGDBM to PGDM. Now other than the application of Management concept in the business the programme trains students, its application in other areas as well.

The PGDM programme of GHS-IMR follows the trimester system as followed by IIMs. In the trimester system, the examinations are held 3 times in a year. Thus a 2-Year PGDM Programme has 6 trimesters which are also called terms. Each term has 6-7 courses, with every course being 30 hrs duration. The term runs for 10-11 weeks and at the end of every term examinations are held. On the face, the system seems to be difficult but by being regular in class the students very easily sail through every trimester and finally completes the PGDM.

At the end of the first three terms of the programme all students are required to undergo a compulsory summer internship for 6-8 weeks in any company.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE GHS-IMR PGDM PROGRAM

The PGDM program focuses on developing business leaders who are value-driven, can bring change, and work effectively in functionally and culturally diverse teams across the globe. Learning extends beyond the four boundaries of the classroom as live projects, discussions, presentations, and co-curricular activities. Seminars, industry visits, alumni talk series, and cultural activities are organized around the year.

During the two years, the student receives academic inputs in two parts, namely, the Compulsory courses and the Elective courses. Largely, the compulsory courses are to be studied in the first year and the elective courses are studied in the second year. In the second year, the student is free to choose any two electives out of 6 offered by the Institute.

Electives are in the specialized areas of management function like Marketing, Finance, HR, IB, Operations, and IT. After the completion of the summer internship students take up electives that are to be studied in the 4th, 5th, and 6th terms. There are few compulsory courses in the second year too. The second-year courses have high project components so that students get more practical exposure.

The students can opt for dual electives in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Operations, International Business and Information Technology as per their choice and career aspiration.

GHS-IMR provides complementary International Industrial & Study Tour to students as they are expected to develop as global citizens through participation not only in curricular activities but also in a mix of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including socially-oriented pursuits.

The proportion of marks that are awarded to the students is by assessment- 60% in End-Term Examination and 40% in Internal Assessment. Each course is evaluated out of 150 marks.

Each course is aligned with the current business environment to make the learning of the students more effective.

Regular interaction with the industry experts provides a clear mindset to visualize the future working of the corporate sector.

Learning based on the interactive internet exercise, simulation game is highly encouraged.

SOCIAL ORIENTATION

Students are involved in the social activities through some CSR initiatives of the students

Student organize Blood Donation activities and collaborate with local NGOs for social work.

Student understand the softer side of life through exposure in the Liberal Arts course.

BUSINESS ANALYTICS

As the business is turning out to be based more on numbers, many of the courses have analytics components and some courses are fully based on analytics viz., Quantitative Techniques, Research Methodology, HR Analytics, and Marketing Analytics.
