Radhakrishna Temple

Kanpur has a few unique temples, and one of the places to visit is the Radhakrishna Temple or the JK Temple. Constructed from carved white marble, the building itself is a marvellous example of neo-Hindu architecture. The temple has five main shrines with the central shrine being dedicated to Shri Radhakrishna. Surrounding the temple complex is a well-maintained park and lake. Festival celebration of Janmashtami and Diwali adds more beauty to the temple.

Moti Jheel

Moti Jheel or as the translation goes; the pearl lake, located in the Benajhabar area in the city, the lake is an important reservoir that was originally built by the British for drinking water purposes. Presently it is one of the most popular recreational spots in the city. The Jheel has adjoining gardens and parks which makes it a famous attraction for family picnics and romantic strolls.

Allen Forest Zoo

Another place to visit in Kanpur is the Allen Forest Zoo. As the name might signify, the zoo is one of the few in India to be naturally built within an existing forest. Spanning an area of over 190 acres, the zoo is among the biggest green spaces in the city. The grounds encompass a gorgeous lake and a forest full of ancient trees. It is a home to broad range of mammal, the animals that can be sighted at the zoo include; the Asian Tiger, Asiatic Lions, Jaguar, Baboon, Hippopotamus, etc. The forest zoo also boasts of a variety of avian and reptile life. Other attractions include a natural lake and the larger than life sculptures of Dinosaurs. Those looking to explore the natural beauty of the grounds can join the zoo’s staff on regularly conducted nature walks and a variety of outdoor recreation.

Japani Garden

About 4 km away from the city centre, Japani Garden located alongside the Moti lake is one of the tourist attractions in Kanpur and every year a lot of people living in Kanpur and visiting Kanpur visit this garden to take leisurely walks amidst nature, appreciate the artfully manicured greenery.
The Japani garden is considered one of the best planned parks in Kanpur and is a very popular picnic spot. The garden is well spread alongside Moti lake and is well maintained. There is Moti Lake children park in the Japani garden where people can be seen jogging and spending their time amidst nature. The Japani garden creates a link of a person with the true spirit of nature and lets one calm their mind. The garden is well equipped with all the facilities like food, toilets and much more.

The Japanese-style horticulture, the Feng Shui boats and the lake with swan boats are the major attraction of garden, that one may get mesmerized. The garden is located in the city but still can cut you off from the noise and fast life of the city.

Bithoor

A place to visit near Kanpur is the town of Bithoor. Located at a distance of 23.4 km from the city. This town was also the epicentre of the Revolt 1857. It has many tourist attractions such as picturesque ghats and peaceful ashrams. Bithoor attracts a large number of pilgrims who visit the Brahmavart Ghat and Valmiki Ashram. Travellers can make a day trip to explore the many places here including; Brahmavart Ghat, Patthar Ghat, Valmiki Ashram, Dhruv Teela, etc.
