FDP PROGRAMMES

OBJECTIVE

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) are specific programs designed for faculty members with the aims of developing the pedagogical and research skills of the participants. FDP committee at GHSIMR works with the objective of organizing short term and long term Development Programs, Seminars and Workshops for faculty members of management institutes. A package of rich inputs by experienced resource persons enhances the teaching and research capabilities, and a set of practical exposure based discussions improves the knowledge of the participants which makes them fit in today’s highly competitive academic arena.

SCHEME OF FUNCTIONING

Developmental programs for faculty members become instrumental in continuously modifying and re-structuring their offerings to students. Thus the Committee aims to address emerging developmental needs of management educators. FDP committee on a regular basis tries to explore issues in management field on which to conduct the programs as well as experts who can serve as resource persons for delivering contents to faculty members. The analysis of traning and developmental requirements of faculty members has led to organizing many successful faculty development programs regularly.

The committee can also render its specialized services to organizations interested in Faculty development by offering customized programs. The modalities of the same can be mutually discussed. Along with these types of FDP programs, FDP committee also conducts in-house lecture sessions generally taken by its much able esteemed faculty members. These sessions remain open to students also.

PAST PROGRAMS

In the recent past FDP have been conducted on the topics like: “How to do Research with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)”, “Using Cases in B-schools”, “Data Analysis Using SPSS”, “Making a Research Proposal and Synopsis Writing’ etc. Enthusiastic participation of faculty members from different management institutes across UP have been seen in these programs.

GLIMPS OF RECENT FDP

A Program on “Writing of Synopsis and Making a Research Proposal” was organized at the campus on 4^th and 5^th July 2015. The aim of the workshop was to support research scholars as they prepare their formal Synopsis (thesis proposals) for presentation and approval, through a series of workshops organized around issues in reading, thinking and writing about research designs and practice.

The workshop explored the key tasks a research proposal needs to accomplish, in an interactive environment that combines structured input, learning and writing tools and collaborative work with co-researchers. The resource persons of the workshop were the faculty members of GHS-IMR.

The day one focused on therotical conetes of research proposal and by the end of day one participants were assigned topic and Mentors with whose help they had to prepare their synopsis.

Burning the midnight oil participant made their synopsis, the rich library and IT resources of the institute made it possible for them to have rough draft of synopsis which they polished with their mentor to give final shape and present before a panel of experts. The panel reviewed and gave suggestion for further improvisation.

The program was attended by faculty members and research scholars from various colleges like Kanpur University, Jiwaji University Gwalior, Indraprast University New Delhi, Dayanand Academy, Kanpur, Vision Institute Kanpur, STEP-HBTI Kanpur, and degree colleges like DAV, BND PPN.
