On August 17, 2024, an orientation program was held for the PGDM 2024–26 students at the Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research (GHS-IMR). The purpose of this event was to familiarize the students with various aspects of the department, such as its activities, teaching methods, placement opportunities, and library resources. Additionally, the program aimed to highlight the significance and wide-ranging applications of management in both academic and industrial contexts.

The orientation program began with the traditional invocation of Saraswati Vandana, and then Professor and Director of GHS-IMR, Dr. Rahul Goyal, delivered the welcoming address. Dr. Goyal extended a hearty welcome to all students, highlighting their forthcoming journey at the institute. He stressed the importance of progression, cooperation, and exploration, pledging steadfast backing for their academic pursuits. With great enthusiasm, he inaugurated a path to a metamorphic learning voyage, nurturing distinction and all-encompassing advancement. The event was graced by esteemed guests, with Mr. Nitin Jain, Regional Sales Head, Trident Group India; Mr. Pramendra Singh, General Manager, Rotomac; Mr. Gaurav Jain, Business Head Africa, Intas Pharma; and Mr. Praveen Kumar Sharma, Assistant General Manager, Amar Ujala.

Mr. Nitin Jain, Regional Sales Head at Trident Group India, delivered an insightful address on the multifaceted nature of management and its crucial role within an organization. He emphasized the importance of hard work and integrity, encouraging students to adopt these values as they navigate their careers. Jain’s speech underscored the need for resilience and determination in overcoming obstacles, inspiring the audiences to not only face challenges but to excel and lead as innovators in their respective fields. Mr. Pramendra Singh, General Manager at Rotomac Pumps, delivered a comprehensive talk on the various facets of industry engagement, emphasizing the importance of skill-based training, short-term projects, and professional recruitment. He highlighted the growth and potential of emerging startups, urging students to embrace innovation as a key to success in their careers. Singh encouraged students to look beyond traditional academic roles and explore opportunities across diverse fields. In his closing remarks, he addressed the challenges that recent graduates often face when entering the industry, noting that their specialized qualifications can sometimes limit their opportunities. In the next segment, Mr. Gaurav Jain, Business Head for Africa at Intas Pharma, took the stage with unwavering confidence and passionate energy, exemplifying the power of women leading in the corporate world. His bold approach and readiness to take risks have been instrumental in his successful career, showcasing his as a role model for aspiring leaders. Drawing on his personal experiences, he emphasized the critical importance of continuous learning, highlighting it as a key factor in staying relevant and competitive in today’s rapidly evolving corporate environment.

Jain’s message was clear: embracing ongoing education is essential for adapting to the ever-changing demands of the business world. His journey is a testament to how courage, coupled with a commitment to self-improvement, can propel one to great heights. He encouraged the audience, particularly women, to break free from conventional constraints and to approach their careers with the same level of audacity and resilience. Mr. Praveen Kumar Sharma, Assistant General Manager at Amar Ujala, took the stage next and delivered a compelling message about the importance of honing essential skills for professional success. He emphasized the critical role of strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, in effectively articulating ideas and opinions. Sharma highlighted that mastering these skills is vital for anyone aiming to make a meaningful impact in their workplace.

He also stressed the significance of building a well-focused professional network. According to Sharma, cultivating relationships with colleagues and superiors is crucial for gaining valuable insights and unlocking opportunities for career growth. He encouraged the audience to actively engage in networking, as these connections can provide guidance and open doors to new possibilities. Furthermore, Sharma advised students to remain adaptable and open-minded, stressing the importance of being receptive to new ideas and changes within the industry. To conclude the event, Mr. Devendra Jaiswal, an Associate Professor at the Institute, provided a detailed explanation of the curriculum and evaluation process to the students. Each faculty member from the department then introduced themselves, offering insights into the various management subjects they teach and the research they

conduct within their specialized fields. Following these presentations, Professor and Dr. Shekhar Trivedi extended heartfelt thanks to the faculty, staff, and students in a formal vote of thanks. The event wrapped up with the singing of the national anthem and was followed by an official luncheon, marking the end of the proceedings.

The Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research hosted the Rock and Roll Farewell Party 2024 for the Batch of 2022-24 on July 20, 2024. As the PGDM Batch of 2023-25 prepares to say goodbye to their seniors, they are experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. Excitement abounds as they look forward to the new opportunities that lie ahead in their personal and professional journeys. However, this enthusiasm is tinged with sadness as they prepare to leave behind the friends, faculty, and staff who have become such a significant part of their lives over the past two years. This moment marks a bittersweet transition, filled with anticipation for the future and nostalgia for the time spent together at the institute.

The ceremony commenced with an inaugural address and welcome speech by Prof. (Dr.) Rahul Goyal, the Director of GHS-IMR. In his speech, he inspired the students by reflecting on their remarkable journey. He highlighted the transformation from their anxious first days of orientation to becoming confident and capable graduates. Prof. Goyal emphasized the significant growth and evolution they have undergone, surpassing their initial expectations. His words served as a reminder of the progress they have made and the potential they possess as they move forward.

After the farewell introduction, Garima Singh and Shashank Singh took the stage to perform. Junior students put on a series of impressive musical acts, including singing, dancing, and other performances to honour their seniors. Senior students also showcased their talents with beautiful performances. The event included a talent round, games, and various competitions to select Mr. Farewell, Ms. Farewell, Mr. Prince, and Ms. Princess 2024. Judging the winners was particularly challenging due to the exceptional performances of the students. The most eagerly awaited titles were announced at the end of the event, with Mr. Farewell and Ms. Farewell being awarded to Manas Shukla and Aashna Mittal, and Mr. Prince and Ms. Princess going to Vaibhav Maheshwari and Roli Tripathi.

Prof. (Dr.) Rahul Goyal, along with other faculty members, awarded prizes to the winners. Prof. Goyal then delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, congratulating the winners and expressing gratitude to all participants and volunteers. The event concluded with an invitation for everyone to enjoy the dinner and dance floor, rounding off a memorable evening.

Mohanty from IIM Lucknow. The ceremony kicked off with the serene Saraswati Vandana and an insightful “Annual Progress Report” presented by our director, Dr. Rahul Goyal.

Diplomas were distributed by Prof. Devendra Jaiswal, with Khushi Kanodia honored with the Chairman Gold Medal, Guneet Singh receiving the Chairman Silver Medal, and Meritorious Certifications awarded to Apanshu Sharma, Vasundhara Pandey, and Aviral Srivastava.

Additionally, the RSPL Group’s Poonam Gyanchandani Memorial Scholarship was awarded to seven deserving students, providing crucial financial support. The scholarship recipients were Disha Mishra, Suraj Verma, Vartika Agarwal, Rimjhim Dhawan, Shivani Modanwal, Krishna Pandey, and Vaibhav Pandey, each receiving Rs 2 lakh to aid in their academic and career pursuits.

On March 2, 2024, the BrandCraft and Brand Storytelling Competition were conducted at the city-based eminent management institute, Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research, on Saturday. Top-notch industry experts were present at the conference. The conference started with the Swaswati Vandana, followed by a welcome address by the director of the institute, Dr. Rahul Goyal.

In the captivating moment of the dice takeover by our esteemed keynote speaker, Mr. Jai Agarwal, Managing Director of C.P. Milk & Food Products (P) Ltd., we were privileged to gain insights into the essence of our brand portfolio. Mr. Agarwal eloquently emphasized the key highlights, unveiling a tapestry of innovation and excellence that defines our diverse range. From our flagship products to emerging market disruptors, he painted a vivid picture of our commitment to quality and consumer satisfaction. His address navigated through the strategic significance of each brand, showcasing the intricate balance between tradition and cutting-edge solutions. As the stage gracefully transitioned to the next speaker, Mr. Rajesh Srivastava, Head of Marketing Communication at Nissan, he ignited the audience’s enthusiasm by delving into the concept of our brand house and the much-anticipated branch launch. With eloquence and passion, Mr. Srivastava underscored the strategic significance of the Brand House as a cohesive entity, uniting our diverse offerings under a singular narrative. He unveiled the philosophy behind our branch launch, articulating how it marks a pivotal moment in our brand’s evolution, expanding our footprint, and connecting with consumers on a deeper level. In the continuum of our enlightening session, Mr. Prateek Srivastava, Category Head of Corporate Commuter at Deluxe Research & Event, and Hero MotoCorp took the stage to illuminate the essence of our upcoming advertising campaign. With strategic prowess, Mr. Srivastava elucidated the campaign’s core objectives, emphasizing its role in amplifying our brand narrative and resonating with our target audience. He artfully detailed the creative direction, highlighting how the campaign seamlessly integrates our brand values with contemporary consumer aspirations. The synergy between innovation and reliability became evident as Mr. Srivastava shared insights into the compelling storytelling and visual aesthetics that will define our advertising endeavor. Day One of the 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐞, On February 16, 2024, our esteemed guests, including 𝐂𝐀 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚, graced us with their presence as we delved into the dynamic world of finance and economics.

Kicking off with an enlightening address by CA Dinesh Chandra, we gained invaluable insights into the Union Budget 2024, digitalization, and India’s infrastructural growth. Subsequent speakers, such as 𝐂𝐀 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐲 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐩𝐚𝐢, deepened our understanding of taxation systems and GST’s transformative impact on our economy.

The panel discussions, featuring luminaries like 𝐂𝐀 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐢 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐚 sparked engaging dialogues on economic revival post-COVID-19, skill development, and entrepreneurship. 𝐃𝐫. The day commenced with an enlightening speech by renowned 𝐓𝐚𝐱 𝐆𝐮𝐫𝐮 𝐂𝐀 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐢, delving into the transformative impact of taxation on economic development. Maheswari’s insights into GST and Indian share market operations provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected elements driving economic growth.

Distinguished tax consultant 𝐂𝐀 𝐀𝐭𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐥 then shared valuable insights on “𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞,” emphasizing resilience and adaptability in navigating today’s dynamic business environment. His discourse on AI and fintech technology highlighted their transformative role in shaping a forward-looking financial landscape.

The subsequent panel discussion, skillfully led by HDFC Bank’s 𝐌𝐫. 𝐊𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐣𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚, provided practical guidance on advancing careers in banking through certifications. Bhatia’s insights underscored the importance of continuous learning and staying abreast of evolving trends in the dynamic banking industry.

The post-lunch session featured the captivating “𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐲,” a live replica of stock market operations orchestrated by enthusiastic students. Students immersed themselves in simulated trading, showcasing strategic thinking and teamwork while gaining practical insights into risk management and market dynamics.

As the day concluded, Assistant Professor 𝐌𝐫. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐮 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐣𝐞𝐞 extended heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, teachers, staff, and student coordinators for their active participation in making the Finance Fusion Conclave an enriching and memorable event.

Batch of 1997-99 hosted a batch reunion on the completion of 25 years at JK Hotel, New Delhi on February 10, 2024. 28 Alumni from the batch participated in the Silver Jubilee celebrations. The host for the event were Mr Shalbh Kant and Mr Anurag Tyagi, Alumni of 1997-99 batch. The evening started with an exchange of greeting among batchmates followed by handing over the mementos amid songs and fanfare. The highlights of the event were everyone shared his or her own experience during they were in campus and journey afterwards. Everyone reminisced about the time spent at alma mater and the institute’s contribution in their respective career. The batch remembers the contribution of Rohit Kotwal for connecting the batch and observed 1 minute silence in his remembrance. The evening concluded with sumptuous dinner.

The first day of the Kanpur Literature Festival began with the screening of the film Pancham Unmixed, a documentary on the musical journey of R.D. Burman. The film’s director, Brahmanand S. Singh, was also present. He spoke to Dr. Alok Bajpai about the film. He explained in detail how the idea for the film came to him and the process of making it. Often, we see the work of creative people, but we should also see where these stories come from. This film shows all aspects of R.D. Burman’s life, from when he was at the peak of his success to when he was alone.

 After the film, the Kanpur Literature Festival was inaugurated. At the inauguration, Festival Director Anjali Tiwari thanked all the people and the people of the city for making the festival a success with their cooperation. She said that the festival is now standing on its feet instead of crawling on its knees. Pallava Bagla, Syed Naqvi, Atul Tiwari, Anandvir Singh, Dr. Rahul Goyal, Alok Bajpai, Dr. Paliwal, Brahmanand Singh, and Kalpyani Komkali were present during the inauguration.

 The second session was “Unique Signatures of Hindi,” in which well-known poet Pankaj Chaturvedi spoke to Mumbai-based poet Hubanath Pandey. During this discussion, many dimensions of poetry and the creative process were openly revealed, and the audience understood how serious this field demands. Where extreme despair comes, poetry is born there. He said that for those leaders who struggled, their stature fell.

 The third session was “ISRO Story: India on the Moon.” In this, famous science journalist Pallava Bagla spoke. He shed light on Indian and American space technology and compared and criticized them. During this time, he also showed some short films.

 The fourth session was “Kalajayi,” in which, on the occasion of the centenary year of Pandit Kumar Gandharva, his daughter Kalpyani Komkali shared her memories of her father with the people. She interestingly spoke to Dr. Alok Bajpai. Kalpyani ji remembered the life of her father with great affection and tenderness, and it showed a glimpse of the practice and penance of Kumar Gandharva ji’s life. This kind of performance is called LECDEM (Lecture and Demonstration).

 After the fourth session, under Kanpur’s Kalamkar, the city’s well-known writer, Amar Singh Deep, was honored. Introducing Deep ji, writer Anita Mishra said that Amar Singh Deep’s literature not only presents the pain of the working class and the deprived before us but also talks about women’s discourse, especially the lower middle-class woman. Despite all the difficulties, he did not leave the city.

 The last session of the first day was very interesting, which was called “Saag Meat.” Based on the story of famous writer Bhisham Sahni, it was presented in the form of a play by well-known actress Seema Bhargava Pahwa. Along with acting, she has also directed it.

 On 24 December, 2023 the program started with Anushka Agarwal’s short film, Sugar Spice and Everything Nice. Anushka is a resident of Kanpur, and her short animation film has been shown at many other film festivals. Talking about her film, Anushka said, “It’s not about the women in the house; it’s about all the women. This film expresses the feelings of women in a powerful way, even without any dialogue. The puppet and the house used in this film were also made by Anushka herself.

 Second session: literary meeting. In this session, Mohammad Anas Faizi, who came from Delhi, shared many stories of his life along with his Mazahia Shayari and entertained the people with the ‘Mulla Bano’ poem.

 In this sequence, IAS Pawan Kumar Ji from Lucknow presented his ghazals and some other songs. The session was moderated by Kanpur-based author Bhawna Mishra, who gave an interesting insight into the Urdu language, the technique of shayari, and the beliefs associated with it.

 The third session: The only singer of Hindi films in this session dedicated to the legendary singer of the Indian film industry, Shailendra, Vividh Bharati presenter Yunus Khan from Mumbai spoke in a very interesting way about all the aspects of Shailendra’s journey in the film world through songs. Yunus kept the audience engaged with his presentation with his interesting guffaws. Among the songs presented during this time were Hariyala Sawan, Awara Hoon, Dharti Kahe Pukar Ke, Barsaat Mein Humse Mile Tum, etc. 

 Fourth session: Atal Ji’s India and today’s India In this session, former PMO officer Sudheendra Kulkarni spoke on all aspects of communism, communalism, and consumerism. During the session, Sudheendra ji highlighted Atal ji’s efforts to resolve India-Pakistan relations, and while referring to the Gaza war, Atal ji’s poem “Jung Na Hone Denge” was recited.

 Fifth session: Bande me hai dum this session of Bollywood’s famous lyricist, writer, playback singer, and actor, Swanand Kirkire, stole the hearts of the people. He sang all the beautiful and melodious songs on the demand of the audience and narrated all the stories related to them by mixing these songs with interesting conversations. He entertained the audience with songs from films like 3 Idiots, Parineeta, PK, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and the recent Shah Rukh Khan film Donkey. 

 Sixth Session: KaljayeeIn this session, Bhuvnesh Komkali, the grandson of Kumar Gandharva, a renowned classical singer of the Indian music tradition, remembered his grandfather on the occasion of his centenary year and sang hymns decorated with beautiful and melodious classical tunes.

The inaugural day of the 𝐃𝐫. 𝐆𝐚𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 unfolded with a burst of athleticism & sportsmanship. Cricket, the heartthrob of the day, saw both men’s and women’s teams engaging in exhilarating battles, showcasing the perfect blend of skill and teamwork. The strategic moves of chess enthusiasts echoed intellectual brilliance, while carom and badminton enthusiasts displayed finesse and agility. Each game, a testament to the passion and competitive spirit, created an electrifying atmosphere, leaving everyone eager for more thrilling contests on Day 2.

Reflecting on the triumph of our recent event, “𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐫 – 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲” featuring the insightful 𝐌𝐬. 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐢 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐣𝐞𝐞, Product Owner & Software Engineer.
