INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO KANPUR PLASTIPACK LIMITED (KPL)

Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research had organized an industrial visit for its (2022-24) PGDM students on 10 September 2022 to Kanpur plastipack Ltd located in Rania. The main objective of the visit was to understand the production activity, management process, technological work and also to acquire knowledge and experience followed by the company. Kanpur Plastipack Limited (KPL) is one of India’s reputable manufacturers of bulk bags or Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBC) and other industrial packaging products.

The main takeaway for students was immense. They met for the first time with industry experts, awareness of management process, operation process, coordination of different departments, maintenance of plants, and teamwork to achieve the goal. KPL provides regular training to the workers, transportation, canteen facility, good atmosphere, etc for the welfare of their employees. Company HR & the other staff members provided helpful information to the students. The industry also contributes to society’s CSR – Hand punts, old age homes, orphanages,s, etc. The industry visit gave the students an opportunity to see the various processes in KPL. After the visit, a documentary about the organization’s vision and the mission was displayed alongside its founder’s story. It showed the background of KPL and how the business developed. Students assembled a ton of information about the business. Eventually, for the Organization Mr. Vinod Sharma extended a hearty vote of gratitude.

GUEST LECTURE ON “INFLUENCER MARKETING” BY SOMYA TANDON

A Session was organised at Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research on Friday, 9 September 2022. The session was taken by Ms. Somya Tandon. She has been working as a social media content creator for many years. All the dignitaries and students were present in the session. Previously, Somya was a business student and was placed in HDFC Bank but she realised that exploring content on social media is more interesting than working in any private sector so from there she started working as a social media influencer. Somya noticed that the content creators who had grown up in Kanpur were creating a bad image of Kanpur in front of the audience which had a bad impact on them. Along with this mindset, she started exploring her own city Kanpur in an attractive manner and her idea worked. She has 50,000 thousand followers on her Instagram account.

Somya shared her experience with students and assisted them in how they can be a future influence of their own city. She answered to the query of the students and guide them on the way how to become a successful influencer. She ended up the session with a beautiful line “तू मेहनत कर तेरा वक्त खुद बदलेगा।।”

ORIENTATION PROGRAM OF 28TH PGDM BATCH 2022-24

An Orientation Program 2022 for the students of the PGDM Batch 2022-24 of, Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research (GHS-IMR) was organised on August 20, 2022, to advise the students about the departmental activities, teaching, placement, library including the importance and scope of management in academics and industry. The orientation program started with the Saraswati Vandana and the welcome address of Prof.(Dr.) Rahul Goyal, Director of GHS-IMR. Mr. Sudeep Goenka, Director, Shubham Goldiee Group was the Chief guest, and Sarvesh Shukla, Joint Commissioner Industries as the Guest of Honour. The other speakers invited for the event were Mr. Paritosh Srivastava, Zonal Business Head, (North & East), Bergner India, and Mr. Aishwarya Gupta, Associate Creative Director, Evolve Digitas. Mr. Sandeep Goenka explained various aspects of Management and its significance in an organization. He urged the students to difficult work and trustworthiness and encouraged them to take up the difficulties and be the forerunners in the development of the country. Mr. Sarvesh Shukla discussed various aspects of interaction with the industry, exploring avenues for skill-based training, short-term projects, and finally recruitment and getting jobs in the industry and covered the scope and appreciation of the aspects of the newly formed start-ups and asked the students to come up with novel ideas, which will partially help them to gain success in their professional life. He also prodded the students to come out of the traditional idea of searching for academic jobs only and venture out in other fields. He finally touched on difficulties faced by the fresh pass-outs in looking for jobs in the industry with their very limited and specific requirements. Mr. Paritosh Srivastava encouraged students to move ahead with motivation, upskilling, positive attitude, and thinking in their professional life and motivate students to do smart work instead of hard work. He also announced various skill-based programs that help students in the industry to grow. Mr. Aishwarya Gupta explained various aspects of the advertising industry and the importance of advertisement. He also shared his work experience with students. Lastly, each faculty member introduced himself/herself to the students and discussed various management topics they are involved, in carrying out research in their respective areas. The final phase of the program ended with a vote of thanks by Prof.(Dr.) Shekhar Trivedi and The National Anthem.

76TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT GHS-IMR

To mark the 75th commemoration of India’s ‘tryst with fate’ on fifteenth August 2022, Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research commended Independence Day to re-experience the soul of positive energy and to respect the brilliant past of our country. Students, faculty, and staff gather together in the morning and participate in the National flag hoisting ceremony and cultural events. With due respect towards our Nation, everyone participates in the National Anthem. The festival started with the flag hoisting ceremony by honorable director sir Dr. Rahul Goyal in appearance of faculty, staff members, and students. After the National Anthem, which brought the excited energy up in the gathering, the event forged ahead with some cultural programs at the college auditorium. From that point on Dr. Rahul Goyal conveyed significantly prodding talk and regarded the long and dependable undertakings put in by the Indian political protesters for the country, he also recalled the freedom struggle and addressed the importance of democracy and freedom. It raises patriotic dedication in the crowd. Students are made to remember the importance of patriotism and the sacrifices of our nation. The cultural program starts with the singing of students who remember to respect the glorious past of our country. Students enabled the day by tapping their feet on the Bollywood beats that made the group happy on being connected with the presence in India. A Bhangra execution in like manner helped people with recollecting about the compelling artwork that is symbolic to Punjab’s lifestyle. The power of the lively tunes played by the students persuaded the group to ring in with the miracles of our country. A play was played by “National Integrity” which makes everyone’s eyes teary.From there on Dr. Shekhar Trivedi conveyed a highly motivated speech  and remembered the long and steady endeavors put in by the Indian political dissidents for the country. The college saw this memorable day with energy and restored the vow of being loyal youngsters to this country. The college saw this eminent day with energy and revived the commitment of committed children to this country. Students, faculties, and staff members share this moment of remembrance and happiness during Independence day at GHS-IMR.

 

Foundation Programme PGDM Batch 2022-24

GHS-IMR organized the Foundation Program for its 28th batch of PGDM students from 25 July to 13 August 2022. The Foundation Program was organized to provide an overview of management studies and development initiatives to young budding managers of the institute and also to build excitement flaunts in the programme which was lost. This Foundation Program is launched under the guidance of Professor (Dr.) Rahul Goyal and Professor (Dr.) Shekhar Trivedi and other faculty members. Along with the lectures and discourses from the GHS-IMR faculty members, guest lectures were also called to add up the practical input to the programme some of the guest lectures were –

  • Career building session ‘Being Management Graduates’ by (Mr. Anurag Saxena)

Anurag Saxena advised students to identify their goals, make plans, stay positive, practice mindfulness, network effectively, identify your strengths and weaknesses, etc.

  • How to run a Mall (Mr. Shashank Tripathi)

Mr. Shashank Tripathi explained various aspects of How to run a Mall, like structuring the Mall, Contractual agreements with tenants, Selection of companies, Advertisement, How to make it work, Studying the competition, Mall timings, etc.

  • Address by Mr. Praveen Sharma (Amar Ujala Prakashan Ltd.)

Mr. Praveen Sharma shared his experience in the world of newspapers and media. He explains the importance of mass media in day-to-day life and its uses.

  • How to set long and short-term goals( CA Govind Maheshwari)

CA Govind Maheshwari advised students first to identify which is a long goal and which is a short goal. He also shared some tips like where you want to be in 10 years, creating short-term goals, adjusting your goal as your priority, etc. He advised students to balance their vision to achieve their mission. He also helped students to solve their doubts related to the financial system.

  • Introduction to finance ( Mrs. Navya Bajpai)

Mrs. Navya Bajpai explained to students to plan, organize, direct and control the financial activities such as procurement and utilization of funds of the enterprise.

  • Making of Laagan (Professor and Dr. Shekhar Trivedi)

Dr. Shekhar Trivedi shared a video with the students which included the issues faced by the team members while shooting for the film. Somehow it inspires the students to not give up and move to smart work.

  • Fever FM Presentation on Operations & Marketing in FM Station by RJ Sheeba

RJ Sheeba shared a presentation with students which included market research, promoting services, keeping customers informed, evaluating service delivery, programmes scheduling, etc.

  • Event by Radio Mirchi (RJ Aastha and RJ Karnika)

RJ Aastha and RJ Karnika shared their experience in the world of radio and conducted different activities like dance, singing, pranks, poems, etc.

Students thus got a 360-degree view of what is in store in their PDGM programme in the next two years.

5TH BLOOD DONATION CAMP ORGANISED BY GHS-IMR

In the fifth consecutive year GHS-IMR organized a blood donation camp on Saturday, 25th November 2017, in association with HDFC Bank and Rotary Club of Kanpur, North in the Institute’s campus. The inaugural function started at 10:45 am. The occasion was graced by Mr. Deepesh Vohra, Deputy Vice-President, HDFC Bank, Mr. Ajay Dikshit, President Rotary Club, Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, AVP, HDFC Bank. Director GHS-IMR, Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi welcomed the esteemed guests.

The camp saw great enthusiasm not only among students but outsiders as well, a large number of people flocked in, to donate the blood in the camp. Out of total registration of 66 volunteers, 46 units of blood was collected after the initial medical screening. Dr. Monika Srivastava along with HDFC official Mr. Kuldeep Verma put in untiring efforts for promoting the event and its successful conduct.

The zeal and dedication of student coordinators for the event, Anmol Tripathi, Sanjana Bajaj, Kunal Dhawan and Vidisha Bansal was applauded by everyone.

GHS-IMR STUDENT’S VISIT TO THE ORPHANAGE ‘SNEHALAYA’

Corporate social responsibility is defined as “overall involvement in activities that improve the quality of people’s lives”. With this objective the CSR club of GHS-IMR has always been very active in lending its service to the society.

On 14th Feb, when our inspiration Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania ji left us for heavenly abode, Institute thought to bring back to life the memories, we cherish of our most respected Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania ji, CSR club of GHS-IMR took initiative to take a step forward in the way of betterment of the society by helping the orphaned people. The visit to the orphanage ‘Snehalaya’ located in Shyam Nagar, Kanpur was organized by the group of students and faculties to spend their time with orphan – spastics to cheer them and make their day memorable and also promised to continue visiting them whenever possible. Here the spastics people who have been left away by the family are given shelter. Group of nuns inspired by the Mother Teresa have given their everything in the service of such people. The student distributed grocery items, clothes, and fruits and also organized high tea for them. The students were emotionally involved while volunteering in this activity and saw the perspective, which further would help them to be more compassionate for their fellow beings.

4TH BLOOD DONATION CAMP ORGANISED BY GHS-IMR

In the fourth consecutive year GHS-IMR organized blood donation camp on Wednesday 7th December 2016, in association with HDFC bank and Rotary Club of Kanpur, North in the Institute campus. The inaugural function started at 10:30 am. The occasion was graced by Dr. R.P. Yadav Chief Medical Officer, Kanpur,  Ms.Vashundra Kameka , Senior Manager   from HDFC  bank  and Mr. Ajay Dikshit from Rotary Club. Director GHS-IMR, Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi welcomed the esteemed guests.

The camp saw great enthusiasm not only among students but outsiders as well, a large number of people flocked in, to donate the blood in the camp. Out of total registration of 123 volunteers ,98 units of blood was collected after the initial medical screening. Dr. Monika Srivastava along with HDFC official Kawaljeet Singh Bhatia did put in untiring efforts for promoting the event and its successful conduct.

The zeal and dedication of student coordinators for the event, Prabhanshu Tripathi, Anmol Tripathi and Sanjana Bajaj  was applauded by everyone.

3RD BLOOD DONATION CAMP ORGANISED BY GHS-IMR

In the third consecutive year GHSIMR organized blood donation camp on Thursday 3rd December 2015, in association with HDFC bank and Rotary Club of Kanpur, North in the Institute campus. The inaugural function started at 10:30 am. The occasion was graced by Captain Jagat Vir Singh Drona, Mayor, Kanpur as chief guest, along with the Vice-President and Circle Head, Mr. Sajjad Hasan Rizvi from HDFC bank and Mr. Ajay Dikshit from Rotary club. Director GHS-IMR, Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi welcomed the esteemed guests. The camp saw great enthusiasm not only among students but outsiders as well, a large number of people flocked in to donate the blood to the blood bank of GSVM College, Kanpur. Fifty-three units of blood was collected after the initial medical screening. GHS-IMR fraternity along with HDFC officials especially Kawaljeet Singh Bhatia has put in untiring efforts for promoting the event and its successful conduct. Dr. Monika Srivastava extended vote of thanks, on behalf of GHS-IMR, to all the donors/participants and esteemed dignitaries for contributing to this noble cause.
